A Spanish “denuncia” is a complaint about something or someone. The police investigate and check whether there is a case or not. If you have been a victim of a crime, you can make an appointment for a Denuncia at any office of the Guardia Civil or Policia Local. Appointments can only be made online.
To reduce waiting times at the police stations and to guarantee the prevention measures recommended by the health authorities regarding the pandemic, the Mossos d’Esquadra have set up an appointment service for complaints.
The appointment service is complementary and does not exclude the reception of complaints or the commission of proceedings. Its purpose is to organize and ensure the shortest possible waiting time for certain proceedings. It is therefore recommended to use the appointment service whenever possible, but in any case, you will always be attended to at the police station.
Reports by appointment can be made for:
- Theft (theft without violence)
- Threats
- Damage
- Fraud
- Violations
- Occupation of real estate
- Loss of documents/items
- Robbery with violence (home, facilities)
- Theft by force and/or intimidation
- Burglary/theft from vehicle
- Theft from vehicle
- Formalities
You do not need to make an appointment for reports of domestic violence, gender-based violence, and sexual freedom offenses. You will be handled directly at the police stations.
